The Rules
These are rules and guidelines for all aspects of the RPG.
Requirements for joining
1) The minimum age of this RPG is 16 due to the possibility of mature content in the RPG. This is the only relevance age has on the RPG, players of all ages are considered equal regardless of their experience.
2) The level of writing required of all members is at an advanced level, and an example of your writing is required on your application.
3) Before submitting an application please read through this website.
4) You may only apply for one character at a time. You can apply for another character after you have started posting for your first character.
5) Reapplying to join the RPG: If you were previously a member of the RPG you are always welcome to reapply to join the RPG! However, if you were rejected based on your RPG example or problems with your character profile then you will not be accepted.
Roleplaying & Posting
1) Power-playing and god-moding are not acceptable. If you do not know what these terms mean please ask me.
2) Minor power-plays, such as moving someone else’s character to another location, are allowed if the other player gives their permission. This is acceptable because it helps the RP run smoothly.
3) Players must seek permission from the owner of a character if they wish to:
• Harm or Kill their character.
• Use magic to find out any information about a character or plot that is not known by others.
• Use magic on another character for any reason.
• Include another character in their profile or plot.
4) All posts should:
• Use good grammar, punctuation, spelling and description.
• Be in the past tense and use third person. So, 'She walked and looked about' is correct, while 'I look around and watch' or 'She walks and looks about' are incorrect.
5) Players should always strive to produce more than two paragraphs when they post. There is no maximum length for posts, and the absolute minimum length accepted is two paragraphs.
6) In this RPG we use a specific style for subject lines to make it easy for members to find posts.
Each subject line should be changed to: Character Name. Location or Post Title. (attn: other characters names - these are the names of the characters your post is aimed towards.)
Example:
Tarlyn. Queen's Room. (attn: Tom, Dick and Harry)
7) The symbol for dialogue/speech is "...". The symbol for private thoughts (or inner dialogue) is ^...^. No other symbols should be used.
8) Players are required to post once a week for each character, and can post as many times a day as they wish. Please provide an explanation for any delays in posting to the Moderator or on the forum. Players not posting will be removed from the RPG.
9) Your character can only be in one place at a time, the only exception to this are threads in the Past Events section.
Creating Characters
1) There is currently no limitation on how many characters a member can play. Just keep in mind that you will be required to post once a week for each character.
2) You can apply for another character after you have started posting for your first character.
3) For each character a member will need to submit a character profile. You can see some examples on the members list.
4) Create a character that will be able to interact with other characters. A loner may sound good on paper, but will you end up posting by yourself?
5) Unlike other forum RPGs you do not need to make a seperate account for each character, you can just use one username to post for all your characters.
Playing your Character
1) Your character will change throughout the course of the RPG as he/she interacts with other characters. Just remember to stay true to your character and show the changing process in your posts.
2) Look at the big picture: It might seem like a good idea to annoy someone, but later down the road it may cause trouble for your character. Be aware of what you're doing and talk to other players as you roleplay.
3) Your character is not above the law, and your character may be punished if caught. While punishment is inevitable you always have a say in what will happen. Of course, your character may be able to wiggle their way out of trouble ... it all depends on who catches them.
4) Your character only knows what he/she finds out in the RPG. Just because the website says that a character is lying to everyone does not mean your character will automatically know that.
5) If you want your character to find out something about another character then please contact their player. If you don't you could end up ruining someone else's carefully planned plot!
6) Your character cannot be in two places at once, the only exception to this are threads in the Past Events section.
7) Don't worry if someone is mean to your character. It isn't anything personal, it's just someone playing their character. If you think there may be a serious problem then you can always speak to me about it.
8) If your character speaks in a specific dialect please use vocabulary to describe his/her speech rather than displaying it in the dialogue. Showing the dialect in the dialogue can make your posts hard to read.
Player Behaviour
This one is really common sense to be honest. Please treat people with respect and if a problem does arise please talk to me privately about it.
